they finally ARISE!

Before this tour, the last time AMEBIX played live I was in my front yard in West Phoenix, Arizona playing with Bluegrass, my favorite character from Silver Hawks, which i was lucky enough to have his action figure. I dont think that has anything to do with this show per say, except Bluegrass did have a mohawk under his cowboy hat.

In all seriousness this reunion is as big of a deal (if not bigger) as the earlier reunions of bands such as Carcass and At the Gates, which were not only successful, but highly entertaining. I wasnt sure what to expect from this show, since they had long disbanded .Luckily Amebix has proven to be just as powerful now as ever, and put on one of the best performances I have seen by any band January 27th 2009 in Seattle,WA at Neumos. I do wish i could have gotten better footage of Amebix, but the place erupted while they played.

In the current state of crust being mostly cookie cutter and cliche, I feel lucky to have seen this band from Vancouver BC. These guys are fucking ferocious. I recommend checking these guys out especially live. They have some quality splits out with Stormcrow and Warfair?

TRAGEDY

One of the best things about living in Portland is that this band is local. Probably the best band in HC right now.

AMEBIX

Its like they spent the last 20 years practicing. These guys sounded amazing. I'm kinda speechless.

Deadeyedstare part 1...... Wishing You Were Dead

Gods among men.

Back in the Fall of 2003 my old band took a weekend trip to play two shows in Northern California. First show was in Sacramento, the second being in Alameda, just outside of Oakland. At the show in Alameda we met another band that was suppose to play, but some of their members had gotten lost and didnt make it in time. We quickly made friends with these guys and they handed us their demos. They were called Deadeyedstare and were from Stockton,CA, a little city a little over an hour east of the Bay. From then on our bands became friends, playing shows together in California and Arizona.  They had some lineup changes, as did we but ultimately deciding to call it quit having their final performaances  July 24th 2004 in Phoenix,AZ.
This is one of those bands that I personally will never forget the impact they had on me. To see a band perform grindcore with such ferocity that would make any hardcore band look lazy. The moment the first chord was struck, they were live chaos.  Fights would break out, circle pits would erupt, and for 20 minutes you felt like you were actually alive. When they called it quits I was really bummed, because I knew there were so many people who missed out on this band.
Below is a 20 minute documentary of sorts done by Zac's(bass) brother Nick for a school project. The footage is them being young jackasses, drinking syrup, and eating pancakes. There is also some live footage of them at their practice space.

House of Cthulu!!!!

finally a new ENGORGED record!!!  The Shotgun Gulch metal maniacs just released this info for the upcoming LP "House of Cthulu"

Engorged "House of Cthulhu" LP news and track listing!

Engorged is finally getting ready to hit the studio! After intensive rehearsals in their ocean floor citadel, Engorged has finally finished writing their new LP "The House Of Cthulhu" and begun recording, shooting for an early Summer 09 release on Tank Crimes Records! The LP will also feature terrifying all new artwork by the one and only Dennis Dread!

As fans who have caught Engorged live in the last few months can attest to, the new material is by far their most aggressive and lethal to date, combining the over the top death metal and thrash mixture of Engorged's last 3 lps, into a new, even more destructive sound, without losing the crazed Engorged edge that metal heads world wide have come to know and love. Cosmic horror set to speed metal tempos!

The track listing for "The House Of Cthulhu" at this time is:

1. No Sleep Till R'lyeh
2. Strikeforce : Cthulhu
3. Into The Vaults Of Yoh-Vombis
4. The Hound
5. Electric Executioner
6. Mysteries Of The Worm
7. Rats In The Walls
8. The Space Eaters
9. Return Of The Old Ones
